Security in southwest Delhi's Uttam Nagar has been significantly heightened in response to the Navratri festival, resulting in noticeably low footfall in local markets. Authorities have been on high alert to maintain order, following past tensions during celebrations.
Preventive detentions involving over 100 individuals occurred during Eid to prevent disturbances. Though all detained were released post-verification, amplified security measures remain, particularly in JJ Colony, to assure festival peace, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh.
Previous altercations, such as a fatal incident during Holi and a political roadblock, necessitated police intervention and continuous watch over social media to curb misinformation and incitement. Security checks have affected local commerce, although police assurances of control aim to restore confidence and normalcy.
