A Karnataka man, aged 50, died after reportedly collapsing within the premises of a police station, sparking claims of police torture. The deceased, identified as Kantaraju, was held in relation to a gambling case.
Reacting to the family’s suspicions, Home Minister G Parameshwara has directed a CID investigation into the incident. Kantaraju, from Yalanadu village, was summoned to the Huliyar police station for questioning.
Amid protests demanding clarity, a senior police official assured stringent action if culpability is proven. The minister stressed the need for transparency, awaiting the results from the CID probe and post-mortem to determine further steps.
