UAE Dismantles Hezbollah-linked Terrorist Network Amid Escalating Gulf Tensions
The UAE has announced the dismantling of a terrorist network linked to Hezbollah and Iran, which was involved in money laundering and terrorist financing. This comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf, with Iran launching attacks on Emirati infrastructure. The network posed a threat to national security and financial stability.
The United Arab Emirates has successfully dismantled a "terrorist network" linked to Lebanon's Hezbollah and Iran, as announced by authorities on Friday. Members of the group, accused of money laundering and financing terrorism, have been arrested as concerns over national security mount.
This development takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran, which began in late February. Iran has since launched a series of missile and drone strikes across the Gulf region, with the UAE being significantly targeted. Among the impacted sites were oil facilities, ports, and other strategic areas.
As a staunch opponent of political Islamist groups, the UAE has faced increased threats from Iran-backed Hezbollah, which entered the broader conflict against Israel on March 2. The dismantled network operated under false commercial pretenses, allegedly attempting to infiltrate the UAE's economy and compromise its financial stability, according to state news reports.
