Delhi's Fire Safety Overhaul: Urgent Audits Following Deadly Blaze

In response to a deadly fire in Palam that resulted in nine fatalities, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood has mandated immediate third-party audits of fire safety across the city, including residential zones. The minister emphasized the need to swiftly identify and rectify safety gaps to comply with established standards.

A devastating blaze erupted in a four-story building located near Palam metro station, rapidly engulfing the structure. The building functioned as a mixed-use premise housing a business in the lower levels and a family residence on the upper floors, leading to the tragic loss of nine family members.

Delhi Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu also underscored the urgency for thorough fire safety audits throughout the capital during his inaugural Delhi Disaster Management Authority meeting. City authorities aim to bolster preventive measures and ensure that every community member feels secure.
