Election Commission Revises Officer Deployments for Upcoming Assembly Elections

The Election Commission of India has revised its deployment plan for the upcoming assembly elections, temporarily halting the transfer of five IPS officers from West Bengal, according to an official statement on Thursday.

Initially, the Commission had announced the deployment of 15 officers, including prominent figures such as Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Muralidhar Sharma and Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waqar Raza, to act as election observers in states outside West Bengal. However, the decision for five officers has been put on hold within a day of the announcement.

The revision affects officers including Sharma, Raza, Amandeep, Akash Magharia, and Praveen Kumar Tripathi. The remaining 10 officers will proceed to their assigned duties as planned. According to an anonymous senior official, the decision reflects routine administrative adjustments to optimize observer deployment for the upcoming elections.
