The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has approached the court to cancel the bail granted to M K Nazar, a key conspirator in the 2010 hand-chopping attack on Professor T J Joseph.
This move follows a fresh criminal case against Nazar for allegedly trespassing and assaulting a 61-year-old man in Aluva. Nazar had earlier been sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in the attack but was granted bail by the Kerala High Court.
The NIA argues Nazar breached bail conditions by engaging in criminal activities again. The agency is likely to appeal to the Kerala High Court to contest the existing bail order. The 2010 attack on Joseph involved a seven-member group linked to the PFI, leading to the conviction of 19 individuals.
