Maharashtra Government Tackles IT Job Scam Targeting Fresh Graduates

The Maharashtra government has initiated action against those behind a fraudulent scheme offering fake jobs to fresh graduates at Hinjewadi IT Park, Pune. This was revealed by Labour Minister Akash Fundkar during a legislative assembly session on Wednesday.

Minister Fundkar reported that nearly 1,000 graduates fell victim to this scam, with the police arresting two individuals involved. The action followed reports highlighting the fraud, which prompted immediate intervention by the Labour Department.

The issue, brought to light by MLA Shankar Jagtap, calls for the formation of a special investigation team to aid victims. Jagtap expressed concerns over forced resignations and layoffs in the IT sector, urging for clear regulatory measures. Minister Fundkar affirmed ongoing efforts to ensure justice and prevent future occurrences, along with plans to implement a tribunal dedicated to addressing IT sector grievances as part of India's new labour codes.
