The United Arab Emirates is in discussions to potentially participate in a U.S.-led initiative aimed at ensuring the safe passage of trade and energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route. This was confirmed by Anwar Gargash, a senior diplomatic adviser to the UAE's president, during an online event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations.

Despite no formal agreement being in place, Gargash emphasized the collective responsibility of nations to maintain the free flow of commerce. He also highlighted the potential need for post-conflict arrangements to prevent Iran from using its military programs to destabilize the region.

Amid escalating concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran has created blockades, President Donald Trump has been urging countries to send warships to safeguard oil tankers navigating this vital waterway.
