Joint Appeal to Avert Israeli Ground Offensive in Lebanon
Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the UK urged avoiding an Israeli ground offensive in Lebanon, warning of severe humanitarian impact and further conflict. They emphasized concern about Lebanon's existing humanitarian crisis and supported Lebanese efforts to disarm Hezbollah.
In a joint statement released on Monday, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom collectively urged the prevention of a 'significant Israeli ground offensive' in Lebanon.
The countries warned that such military action could result in catastrophic humanitarian consequences and potentially lead to a long-term conflict.
Additionally, they expressed grave concern about Lebanon's humanitarian crisis, marked by massive displacement, and backed Lebanese governmental efforts to disarm the Iran-supported militant group Hezbollah.
