In an unprecedented move, opposition MPs have filed formal notices in both Houses of Parliament seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. This action, confirmed by sources on Friday, has been signed by 130 Lok Sabha and 63 Rajya Sabha MPs.
The initiative sees backing from across the INDIA bloc, including a notable endorsement from the Aam Aadmi Party despite its formal detachment from the alliance. The collective effort brings together a broad spectrum of MPs, with independents also expressing interest in the cause.
The notice against Kumar outlines seven charges, including allegations of partisan behavior, blocking investigations into electoral fraud, and mass voter disenfranchisement. The opposition claims these actions unfairly benefit the ruling BJP, particularly concerning the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
