Supreme Court to Decide Fate of Haitian Deportation Protections Under Trump's Administration

The administration of President Donald Trump has escalated its efforts to remove humanitarian deportation protections by appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court. The measure, aimed at more than 350,000 Haitians, seeks to overturn a lower court ruling that halted the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) amid severe unrest in Haiti.

The U.S. Justice Department filed an emergency request to annul a judge's decision that found racial bias in the administration's effort to end TPS for Haitians. Kristi Noem, a Trump appointee, had previously deemed conditions in Haiti stable enough for migrants to return, despite the State Department's warnings against travel due to violence and instability.
