A New Era of Cooperation: South Korea and Ghana Strengthen Ties

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Ghanaian President John Mahama convened on Wednesday to enhance bilateral cooperation, focusing on crucial areas like climate change, digital innovation, and maritime security.

The summit resulted in the signing of three pivotal agreements: a climate-change cooperation accord, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on technology and digital innovation, and a maritime safety and security pact between the Korea Coast Guard and the Ghana Navy.

President Lee expressed gratitude to Ghana's naval forces for safeguarding South Korean nationals in the Gulf of Guinea, while President Mahama highlighted Ghana's abundant mineral resources, underlining the potential for joint exploration and broader economic collaboration.
