Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for Census 2027, with the initiative set to kick off its first phase of house listing on May 1. State Census Operations Director J Nivas briefed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the upcoming developments during a recent meeting.
The two-phase operation will start with house listing and a comprehensive house census, examining the status of housing facilities and assets until May 30. Notably, a self-census feature will be available to citizens between April 16 and 30, empowering locals with a chance to contribute their details independently.
Starting February 2027, the next phase will focus on documenting socio-economic conditions, cultural contexts, migration patterns, and children's details. This marks the first fully digital census, with mobile applications and web portals streamlining data entry. Public participation is encouraged via a newly launched user-friendly portal operating in 16 languages.
