In a concerning development, Russia's consulate situated in the Iranian city of Isfahan sustained damage due to recent shelling. As per Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, this event marks a 'blatant violation' of international conventions, underscoring the necessity for respecting the 'inviolability of diplomatic sites.'
Zakharova noted that on March 8, the attack on the governor's administration in Isfahan inadvertently impacted the Russian consulate, shattering windows in the building and causing an explosive wave that affected several employees. Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries were reported.
In light of these events, Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing the need for a cessation of hostilities, as confirmed by the Kremlin.
