Iran Cracks Down on Alleged Espionage Network Amid Tensions
Iran has arrested several individuals, including a foreign national, for allegedly spying for the U.S. and Israel amid ongoing tensions. The arrests include numerous dual nationals on charges of espionage. Iran's actions have been criticized as attempts for political leverage, which Tehran denies.
Iran has apprehended dozens, among them a foreign national, accused of espionage for its adversaries, the Intelligence Ministry announced on Tuesday as tensions with the U.S. and Israel persist.
The U.S. and Israel have executed airstrikes against Iran, resulting in the death of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, escalating the conflict. Iran has retaliated with strikes against U.S.-aligned Gulf countries.
The Intelligence Ministry, without revealing the arrested individual's nationality, accused the person of spying for the U.S. and Israel. Rights groups claim Iran uses arrests for political leverage, which Tehran refutes.
