Rebel Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali has urged the Punjab government to lift the detention of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, held under the National Security Act (NSA). He spotlighted this issue amid ongoing discussions in the state Assembly.
Ayali vehemently argued in the Assembly that Amritpal, who had won the Khadoor Sahib parliamentary seat with a significant majority, has been unfairly locked out of parliamentary discourse. Currently, Amritpal is incarcerated in Assam's Dibrugarh jail following his arrest from Moga's Rode village in 2023.
Additionally, Ayali advocated for the release of 'Bandi Singhs' or Sikh prisoners. Among them are Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, Balwant Singh Rajoana, and Jagtar Singh Hawara, whom Ayali mentioned specifically, pointing to legal and humanitarian considerations for their release.
