Austrian Broadcaster's Director Resigns Amid Controversy

Roland Weissmann, the director general of Austrian national broadcaster ORF, has resigned following allegations of sexual harassment, which he denies. The broadcaster made the announcement ahead of hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in two months.

These allegations were reported to ORF's Foundation Council, prompting Weissmann to step down to avoid harm to the organization. Despite not receiving full details of the accusations, Weissmann chose to resign immediately.

Weissmann's lawyer criticized ORF's handling of the announcement, claiming it was excessive and a violation of personal rights. Ingrid Thurnher will take on the role of interim director general as investigations continue.
