Six people were rescued from a capsized fishing boat near Puthuvypeen on Saturday morning, according to coastal police. The vessel, St Xavier, overturned shortly after departing at 5 am.
A prompt rescue operation ensured all crew members were saved. One fisherman, Renjan from Neerkunnam, suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the capsize is currently undetermined, but an operation to recover the boat will be initiated. Police are set to record statements from the rescued crew as part of their ongoing investigation.
