In a dramatic courtroom development, the Supreme Court heard arguments from Gitanjali Angmo regarding her husband, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's detention. Angmo alleged that crucial video evidence was not shared with Wangchuk, potentially infringing on his right to an effective defense.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued before Justices Aravind Kumar and Prasanna B Varale that the government's failure to provide the complete video recordings denied Wangchuk the opportunity to fully represent himself against allegations tied to last year's Leh violence.

The government's defense, led by Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj, was put to the test as the Supreme Court demanded precise video transcripts amidst Wangchuk's habeas corpus petition challenge to his detention under the National Security Act, 1980. The case now hinges on the court's review of the evidence, scheduled for a hearing on February 23.
