The Congress party has launched allegations against BJP governments at the center and in the states over the forced deletion of nine AI-generated videos. The opposition asserts the videos, critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were taken down without transparency or proper explanation, citing misuse of IT laws for political motives.
Congress social media head, Supriya Shrinate, stated that despite an explicit AI disclaimer, the government ordered their removal through police and direct ministry interventions. She criticized the administration's approach as an effort to stifle dissent, labeling it as 'authoritarian' and questioning the legal grounds for the deletions.
Shrinate also commented on a controversy involving the misleading presentation of AI innovations at a national summit, using this as an example of the government's misplaced priorities. She called on PM Modi to address national issues sincerely, rather than silencing political satire and commentary.
