A tragic fire erupted in a Catalonia apartment building, claiming the lives of five individuals, authorities reported late Monday. Four additional people sustained minor injuries.
The fire, originating in a storage room within the five-story building in Manlleu, north of Barcelona, trapped the victims, who were mostly young, with some reportedly underage. Catalonia’s regional firefighters confirmed the incident.
Efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing as some remains were severely charred. The Catalan police, Mossos d'Esquadra, have launched an investigation to unearth the fire's cause.
