The Delhi government has intensified its probe into the expenses related to the renovation of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. Official sources report that the Public Works Department (PWD) has been instructed to submit comprehensive details concerning the residence and ongoing cases.
In a recent meeting with top PWD officials and the Delhi chief secretary, the status of various investigations, including those by the vigilance and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was discussed. The residence in question, labelled 'Sheeshmahal' by the BJP, was scrutinized for alleged excessive expenditure during Kejriwal's tenure.
The chief minister's office has requested updates on case progress, suspensions, and actions against retired officials involved. As of 2024, after Kejriwal vacated the residence, the PWD conducted an audit and addressed irregularities. Currently, the matter remains under the CBI's watchful eye, following a complaint by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.
