The tense atmosphere in violence-stricken Moava village, located in Nagaland's Chümoukedima district, has stabilized as of Saturday, authorities report. The prior day saw a violent clash leaving 26 people injured, sparked by a prolonged land dispute.
The altercation unfolded between local villagers and the Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) within Medziphema sub-division. Moava Village Council chairman Sutminlal Vaiphei emphasized ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict through dialogue, clarifying the dispute centers on specific land, rather than hindering development projects.
The police called on the public to maintain peace, discourage rumor proliferation, and collaborate with law enforcement to ensure lasting harmony and avert similar future incidents.
