The Ludhiana Police are making significant headway in a Rs 7 crore cyber fraud by bringing in Arpit Rathore, a key suspect, on a production warrant. This fraud involves Padma Bhushan awardee and industrialist S P Oswal, highlighting security vulnerabilities even amongst high-profile individuals.
Officials revealed that Rathore, previously detained in Kapurthala jail, used an associate's bank account to carry out illegal transactions. The sophisticated operation kept Oswal under continuous Skype surveillance, ensuring compliance with the fraudsters' demands.
The investigation, led by the Ludhiana Cyber Crime Police, is focused on following the money trail to its final destination and establishing a direct link between Rathore and the primary accused, Rumi Kalita.
