The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Friday that all U.S. airlines are now required to certify they conduct merit-based hiring for pilots. This directive comes amid allegations that airlines are making hiring decisions influenced by race and sex.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized the seriousness of these allegations and stated that the initiative is focused on ensuring fairness in the hiring process. He asserted that any airline found not adhering to this requirement would face a federal investigation.
