Tragic End for Odisha Constable Amid Family Dispute
Sunil Sethi, a constable in Odisha Police, took his own life following familial opposition to his marriage plans. The incident occurred in Nayagarh district, where Sethi used his service pistol reportedly due to the mental pressure from his family. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause.

A heartbreaking incident unfolded as Sunil Sethi, an Odisha Police constable, allegedly ended his life using his service-issued firearm amidst a familial dispute over his marriage plans. Sethi, belonging to the 2023 batch, was stationed in Nayagarh district.
Authorities recovered his body from the barracks of the Nayagarh Reserve Police campus. Both SP S Sushree and District Collector Madhumita Rath investigated the site as the deceased constable’s engagement with a close female relative faced strong familial opposition.
Sushree detailed how Sethi, under immense stress, transferred loan funds and exchanged messages with the woman before the act. Sethi's mother, however, insists on foul play, labeling the death a murder. A comprehensive investigation including a post-mortem is currently underway.
