A significant seizure of explosives has taken place near Palakkad town, according to police reports on Wednesday night. An inspection by the Palakkad Town South police station uncovered more than 100 boxes of gelatin sticks and over 20 boxes of detonators concealed beneath watermelons on a pick-up van.

The vehicle's driver was apprehended following a police chase, as the driver initially failed to stop the vehicle upon request. During questioning, the driver revealed loading the contraband in Coimbatore bound for a quarry in Thrissur. Police had earlier been tipped off about illegal explosive transport into the state.
