Mystery in Cyprus: Former Uralkali CEO Found Dead

Vladislav Baumgertner, a former CEO of the potash corporation Uralkali, has been confirmed dead in Cyprus, local authorities reported on Wednesday. Baumgertner disappeared on January 7, with his body subsequently discovered on January 15 in a coastal, civilian area controlled by the British Sovereign Base Areas on the island.
DNA testing was necessary to confirm Baumgertner's identity. The British bases' Criminal Investigation Department is now probing the circumstances and cause of his death, as disclosed by a spokesperson for the bases. Authorities have notified Baumgertner's family regarding the tragic news.
The 53-year-old businessman had been residing in the southern Cypriot city of Limassol in the years leading up to his disappearance and untimely death.
