High-Stakes Diplomacy: Netanyahu Meets U.S. Envoy Amid Iran Nuclear Tensions
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to discuss Iran's nuclear program. The upcoming diplomatic efforts coincide with heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with conditions for talks outlined by Trump and ongoing regional conflicts causing further strain.
In a diplomatic move that underscores escalating tensions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing to meet U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday. The high-level discussion focuses on reviving diplomacy concerning Iran's controversial nuclear program.
Scheduled for 1430 GMT, the meeting will also include Israel's Mossad spy agency director David Barnea, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and Military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. U.S. President Donald Trump has set conditions for resuming talks with Iran, demanding zero uranium enrichment, restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile program, and an end to Tehran's support for regional proxies—conditions aligning with long-standing Israeli demands.
The stakes are high as tensions rise with the arrival of U.S. warships in the Middle East, enhancing Trump's military response capabilities. Iran and the U.S. plan to resume nuclear discussions on Friday in Turkey, amid warnings and accusations from both sides regarding culpability for earlier protests and violence.
