An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, over charges related to a 2024 protest, according to media reports. The Rawalpindi court's decision follows similar actions taken against her for non-appearance in the case.
The court's charges relate to Aleema's involvement in a protest organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The protest included activities such as anti-government chanting, vandalism, and stone-pelting. Alongside Aleema, the court issued warrants for her two guarantors.
The court has demanded Aleema's presentation on Wednesday, having rejected her application for exemption. A Superintendent of Police is also under scrutiny for failing to enforce the arrest. Despite legal obstructions, Aleema finally appeared on November 20, after multiple warrants and property seizure orders.
