The Maharashtra government has announced the formation of two new tehsils, Killari and Kasar Sirshi, in Latur district, marking a significant administrative shift after nearly three decades of advocacy. Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule revealed the news on Tuesday, attributing the development to the persistent efforts of BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar.

"Once the new tehsils are established, we expect that administrative functions like revenue collection, policing, and other services will operate more effectively. This adjustment will ensure that citizens can access government services more conveniently at the tehsil level, saving both time and money," Bawankule stated during a recent poll rally.

Additionally, adjustments will see villages such as Sangvi, Jewari, Bamni, Dhanora, Malegaon, and Shinganal reintegrated into Nilanga tehsil. An ordinance to sanction these changes is set to be issued next month, with implementation anticipated post-elections.
