Sri Lankan Judges Embark on Transformative Capacity Building in Bhopal

In a significant move towards strengthening judicial capabilities, thirty district judges from Sri Lanka undertook a comprehensive capacity building programme held at the Indian National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, according to an announcement by the Indian mission on Wednesday.

The programme, initiated at the request of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Judges' Institute, spanned from January 12 to 16, comprising 11 thematic sessions that focused on pivotal aspects of judicial functioning. Topics covered include juvenile justice, cybercrime, money laundering, and environmental law, among others.

This event is part of a broader capacity building framework initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 2025 State Visit to Sri Lanka, with India training around 1,000 Sri Lankan individuals annually. The programme also featured cultural engagements, including a visit to the historic site of Sanchi.
