Army Intervenes in Assam's Kokrajhar Amid Mob Violence

The Army has been dispatched to Assam’s Kokrajhar district in response to volatile escalations between the Bodo and Adivasi communities that tragically resulted in two fatalities, according to official reports released on Wednesday.

Increased patrols helmed by Army personnel and district administrators canvassed Karigaon and surrounding areas late Tuesday, confirmed a defense spokesperson. A flag march by the Army was scheduled for Wednesday as part of ongoing confidence-building initiatives.

Ensuring the district's stability, four Army columns are currently stationed in Kokrajhar, complemented by strong security arrangements in neighboring Chirang district. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and internet restrictions have also been enforced.
