The White House has announced key leaders who will oversee post-conflict recovery and governance efforts in Gaza. This follows a meeting of a newly established Palestinian committee in Cairo. Chaired by Ali Shaath, the committee aims to address immediate needs such as providing shelter and plans for long-term reconstruction over three years.
US President Donald Trump backs this effort, which comes on the heels of Israeli withdrawal from parts of Gaza after a ceasefire with Hamas. The global oversight plan includes a technocratic committee led by Shaath, operating under a Trump-guided 'Board of Peace.' Challenges remain, particularly the deployment of international security forces and disarming Hamas.
Separately, tensions in the West Bank flared as a 14-year-old Palestinian boy was killed by Israeli forces, sparking community outrage. This follows a year marked by violence, with significant casualties on both sides. The situation remains unstable, with recent killings in both Gaza and the West Bank highlighting the fragile peace.
