West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has issued a strong condemnation of an alleged mob attack on a journalist in Beldanga, Murshidabad district. Describing the incident as 'ghastly,' Bose called for vigorous repudiation.
The governor emphasized the critical role of media, labeling it as the 'fourth pillar of the Constitution' and a 'guardian of democracy.' He criticized the police for their apparent inaction, stating that they had failed both the people and the principles of democracy.
The attack coincided with local unrest over alleged attacks on Murshidabad migrant workers in other states, during which locals blocked a national highway. Bose decried this 'gundaraj,' insisting that citizens deserve protection for their life, property, and dignity.
