In a significant move to tackle the surge in cybercrimes, Delhi Police has lowered the threshold for filing e-FIRs in financial fraud cases from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 lakh. This initiative is set to enhance digital policing and provide victims with faster access to justice.

Starting November 1, victims of online fraud involving Rs 1 lakh or more can file e-FIRs with ease. Special Commissioner Devesh Chandra Srivastava disclosed that the number of complaints is expected to rise dramatically, with the process for filing now accessible at any of the 225 police stations equipped to handle such cases.

Furthermore, the 1930 cyber helpline will automatically register complaints for e-FIRs, ensuring prompt investigation and legal action. This initiative aims to streamline redressal procedures and integrate digital verification, offering citizens a reliable system to combat cyber financial crimes.
