The Simdega district administration and Jharkhand Labour department have stepped in to support the grieving family of a migrant worker who tragically drowned in Karnataka. Manish Majhi, hailing from Aavarapani Purana Toli in Ghutabahar panchayat, was working at a fishery in Malpe Harbour when he accidentally drowned in the Arabian Sea.

According to Simdega Deputy Commissioner Kanchan Singh, the 38-year-old Majhi had received leave to visit his family for Diwali. Before returning home, he took a trip on another fishing boat to see friends, but unfortunately slipped into the sea at night. Despite efforts by fellow workers, darkness hindered the search, and his body was only located two days later.

Shikha Lakra, team leader at the Migrant Control Cell under Jharkhand Labour Department, confirmed that action was immediately taken to contact Majhi's family and arrange for his body to be transported home. The state has pledged Rs 1.3 lakh to the family and assistance through the Jharkhand Chief Minister Accident Relief Fund.
