The bustling market of Katra Neel in Chandni Chowk faced a significant setback as several shops were sealed on Thursday, adhering to a Supreme Court order, according to Sanjay Bhargaw of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association.
Reports suggest that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed around eight shops on the day, with a total of 750 stores listed for action in court proceedings. However, an immediate response from MCD officials remains unavailable.
General Secretary Praveen Shankar Kapoor of Chandni Chowk Nagrik Manch clarified that the MCD acted under a Supreme Court directive, following a petition from a Katra Neel resident. The sealing actions have sparked criticism, notably from Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi unit president, Saurabh Bharadwaj, highlighting alleged political influences in the enforcement actions.
