A Delhi court has cleared four accused individuals in a 2023 attempted murder case, citing the lack of incriminating evidence as the reason for the acquittal.

Additional Sessions Judge Kiran Gupta presided over the trial, where the accused were alleged to have attacked Mahender Sahni. In the verdict dated October 8, Judge Gupta highlighted that Sahni’s testimony did not support the prosecution's narrative, particularly his failure to confirm the number of alleged assailants or to identify the accused.

The police had filed an FIR against Santosh Gupta, Rakhi Devi, Prabhakar Mishra, and Shehraj Qureshi at Sagarpur police station on charges of attempted murder, wrongful restraint, and common intention. However, Sahni testified he was not attacked by the accused but was injured in an accidental fall near his home.
