In a move to tackle the persistent issue of stubble burning in Mathura, authorities suspended two officials and issued show-cause notices to several others on Thursday. This action comes after District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh's keen observation and intervention.
Singh visited villages affected by the burning and questioned local tehsildars and block development officers. The Gram Vikas Adhikari of Bukharari village, Neeraj Kumar, faced suspension over alleged negligence in his duties.
Further, Narendra Pal Singh, a technical assistant in the agriculture department, was also suspended on orders from Singh. The district has seen a surge in stubble burning cases causing environmental harm, prompting the DM to urge farmers to offer stubble to cow-sheds rather than burning it.
