Nearly 700 foreigners fled Myanmar and crossed into Thailand amid a military crackdown on KK Park, a notorious cybercrime hub backed by Chinese interests. The Thai military confirmed the influx, stating it had detained 677 people, comprising 618 men and 59 women, in Tak province.
Myanmar's army seized control of KK Park, sparking the mass exodus. Legal processes are underway for those detained, and Thai authorities are prepared to expand detention capacity as needed. Collaborative efforts with local agencies aim to maintain border order.
Internationally recognized for its cyber scams, KK Park is operated by Chinese criminal syndicates and protected by militias aligned with Myanmar's military. Post-pandemic, border zones have surged as online fraud hubs, with the UN highlighting their multi-billion-dollar human trafficking operations.
