An explosion rocked a farmhouse in northern Italy, resulting in the tragic deaths of three Carabinieri officers and injuries to 12 others during a police raid, as confirmed by Italy's fire service on Tuesday.
The incident happened overnight in Castel d'Azzano, near Verona, with the explosion causing the structure to collapse, leaving one woman injured and sending seven firefighters to the hospital for evaluations.
Reports indicate the officers were enforcing an eviction order, and initial findings suggest gas canisters triggered the blast, heard five kilometers away. The building housed three siblings who resisted eviction for years. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed sorrow for the loss.
