FSSAI Tightens Grip on Milk Producers: Mandatory Registration to Combat Adulteration

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has announced new measures to combat milk adulteration, requiring all milk producers, barring dairy cooperative members, to register themselves. This move comes in response to reports of adulterated milk in various regions across the country.

An advisory has been dispatched to state food commissioners, stressing the importance of mandatory registration for milk producers and vendors operating outside the cooperative society framework. The FSSAI aims to curb unregistered practices rampant among these entities.

State and central authorities are instructed to enforce strict compliance, inspect milk storage conditions, and undertake special registration drives. Such efforts are aimed at bolstering public health, with the submission of compliance reports on a fortnightly basis.
