In a significant display of democratic engagement, both West Bengal and Tamil Nadu witnessed soaring voter turnouts as polls neared their conclusion on Thursday. By 5 PM, West Bengal recorded an impressive 89.93% voter turnout, decisively surpassing Tamil Nadu's notable participation rate of 82.24%, according to the Election Commission.
West Bengal saw exceptional voter engagement, with multiple districts surpassing the 90% turnout mark. Dakshin Dinajpur led with a remarkable 93.12%, followed by Cooch Behar at 92.07% and Birbhum at 91.55%. This notable turnout aligns with the state's consistent trend of high electoral participation. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu's voters displayed a similar enthusiasm, particularly in Karur, which topped the state with 89.32%, followed by Salem and Erode, with votes cast still active as polling hours continued.
