Russia Halts Oil Exports to Germany: The Druzhba Pipeline Standoff

Starting May 1, Russia will stop oil exports from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline due to frayed political relations over the Ukraine conflict. This halt affects Kazakhstan's oil supply to Germany, which had increased by 44% in 2025. Germany's PCK refinery is partially impacted by this disruption.

Russia Halts Oil Exports to Germany: The Druzhba Pipeline Standoff

In a move highlighting deteriorating political relations, Russia has announced it will cease oil exports from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting May 1. The decision follows strained ties over Germany's support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Industry sources have revealed that the revised oil export schedule has been communicated to Kazakhstan and Germany. While Russia's energy ministry is yet to respond to inquiries, the halt underscores the impact of geopolitical tensions on energy supplies.

Germany, which placed Russian oil producer Rosneft's local units under trusteeship last year, is significantly affected. The country's PCK refinery, reliant on Kazakh oil, faces disruptions as the pipeline's operations have been repeatedly interrupted by Ukrainian drone attacks.
