In a strategic move, Adani Power has established a subsidiary, Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited, aimed at spearheading nuclear energy projects. This aligns with India’s ambitious goal of achieving a 100 GW nuclear capacity by 2047, according to the company's recent exchange filing.
The new subsidiary is dedicated to the generation, transmission, and distribution of nuclear-derived power, marking a significant step as India currently holds a nuclear capacity between 8-9 GW. Legislative changes have encouraged private sector involvement in boosting the country’s nuclear energy portfolio.
Besides Adani Power, other major players like Tata Power and the Naveen Jindal Group are also venturing into the nuclear sector, indicating a rising trend of private investments driven by governmental reforms in energy policy.
