In a significant twist in Himachal Pradesh's forest administration, a departmental inquiry has absolved its officials of any wrongdoing in a controversial case involving eco-tourism funds. The probe, led by the Divisional Forest Officer of Kotgarh, found no evidence of illicit money collection, even as police investigations continue.

The Forest Department reported that Rs 11,51,627 was amassed over three years and properly allocated to the Circle Level Eco-Tourism Management Society (CLEMTS) in Rampur, asserting compliance with High Court directives on entry fees. However, allegations made by local resident Ranvijay Singh have sparked a parallel police inquiry into the legitimacy of these collections.

Authorities are now grappling with accusations that funds were gathered under nonexistent entities, while complainant Singh, who alleges intimidation, has named top officials in his complaint. Criticism mounts over flawed inquiry processes, compelling Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi to mandate a fresh investigation, ensuring actions align with justice principles.
