In an effort to curb the deep-rooted social menace of dowry, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Rajouri hosted a grand legal services camp in the remote areas of Kalakote. The initiative was inspired by a Supreme Court of India mandate in the notable Uttar Pradesh vs. Ajmal Beg case, pushing communities to reconsider traditional practices.

Held in collaboration with the local Tehsil Administration and Police, the event underscored the legal consequences of dowry involvement, with speakers urging society to view dowry not as a harmless gift but as a coercive crime. The programme actively involved rural households and youth, channeling a cultural shift through education and dialogue.

Inaugurated with formalities and led by distinguished dignitaries such as Principal District & Sessions Judge Rajinder Sapru, the camp stressed the availability of Free Legal Aid. Highlights included talks by legal experts and cultural performances symbolizing the grim realities of dowry issues. This initiative aimed to fortify legal literacy and justice advocacy, marking a significant step in social reform.
