In a significant move, the board of the markets regulator, Sebi, gave the green light to a sweeping set of proposals aimed at revamping norms for foreign portfolio investors and updating the regulatory framework for market intermediaries.
The proposals include important modifications to conflict of interest disclosures and crucial changes to the fit and proper person criteria for market participants.
Additionally, Sebi’s board endorsed initiatives to enhance the ease of doing business for real estate and infrastructure investment trusts, as well as alternative investment funds.
