The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has unveiled its list of 18 star campaigners for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections in 2026. Among those leading the charge is West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, supported by an array of senior party leaders such as Abhishek Banerjee, Sushmita Dev, and others.
In a formal communication to the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, AITC iterated that the nominated list embodies their dynamic campaign force for the state elections. The announcement, signed by AITC's National Working Committee member Derek O'Brien, marks the party's strategic approach ahead of the single-phase polling on April 9.
As the political landscape heats up, Assam prepares for a fierce contest between the ruling BJP-led NDA and the opposition Congress, with both sides eager to claim power in the 126-seat assembly. The battle extends beyond Assam, with simultaneous elections in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, all culminating in vote counting on May 4.
